I work as a midwife in the delivery room and in the OB-ward where the women stay a couple oaf days after having given birth. If we suspect that anyone runs afever, we have to use the thermometre in rectum. It is supposed to be the most accurate one.
When I worked in medicine ward, we used the same as yours on the picture. When I worked in surgical ward we used in rectum. You never use rectum in hospitals in Australia?
